About Chef Izin
Hi, I’m Izin — the heart behind Herb’d.
I was named after my strong and beautiful grandmother, a woman I never met but whose spirit of resilience and warmth has shaped who I am today.
My love for food didn’t begin in the kitchen — it began with curiosity. I got my first passport at six years old, and from that moment, I fell in love with exploring new cultures, new people, and most importantly… new flavors.
Ironically, I wasn’t always a “food lover.” I was the kid hiding vegetables at the dinner table and convinced that chicken nuggets and pizza were their own food group. But over time, something shifted. What started as a love for baking evolved into a deep appreciation for savory cooking, fresh ingredients, and the healing power of whole foods.
Before stepping fully into the culinary world, I was a high school math teacher. My path changed after a simple but powerful memory shared by my sister — something my late father used to say:
“Why go to restaurants when my daughter has already made something delicious at home?”
Those words stayed with me. They led me to pursue formal culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu in Atlanta, where I began turning passion into purpose.
